Vale Media Group are pleased to announce that Pele Energy Group will be the ‘Lead IPP Partner’ for the upcoming Summit in Cape Town this October.
Pele Energy is an energetic IPP which is spearheaded by 5 young and dynamic South African entrepreneurs, founded in 2009 and with the dream to contribute to the structural reform of the African continent.
An objective they contribute to is making freedom tangible, through their operating subsidiaries: Pele Green Energy, Knowledge Pele and Pele Natural Energy. Pele will be working with us and helping shape the theme and content for the Summit this October, they will be leading the opening IPP presentation, joining us on all of the panel discussions and have proposed some very interesting topics including the Importance of Community Participation on regional IPP developments.
Pele currently has over 900MW of operational capacity and won over 700MW’s of additional projects in April this year. Pele are very much a key player in South Africa and are continuously looking for opportunities on the continent.
Matthew Hewitson, Vale Media Group’s President, said ‘Pele Energy Group are one of the most ambitious IPP’s in Africa and have demonstrated that they have deep rooted passions for developing not only power projects, but enabling development within South African communities. Unemployment in South Africa stands at over 30%, but youth unemployment is over 60%, and Pele are looking for ways to reduce unemployment through training provision and inclusion through IPP community ownership from the very start of these projects.’
The Sub Saharan Africa Power Summit is the best event in Africa for National Power Companies, IPP’s and Ministries of Energy/Power to meet, knowledge share and strategize ways to overcome key challenges in the region.
